  12. ------------
  13.  
  14. The Microsoft Windows 3.1 Driver Library (WDL) contains device
  15. drivers for printers, displays, and audio devices. These drivers
  16. enable these devices to run with Microsoft Windows operating
  17. system version 3.1. This library also contains a few additional
  18. items, such as Access Pack software and a Novell NetWare upgrade.
  19.  
  20. As new and updated drivers become available, they will be added
  21. to the WDL.
  22.  
  23. This WDL.TXT file includes a list of all the devices supported by
  24. the drivers in the WDL and instructions for downloading the
  25. drivers. This file is updated on a regular basis.
  26.  
  27. NOTE: Everything included in this library is intended for use
  28. with Windows version 3.1.  It is NOT RECOMMENDED that software
  29. from this library be used with Windows version 3.0.

  32. Instructions for Downloading
  33. ----------------------------
  34.  
  35. 1. Locate your device in the listing included at the end of this
  36.    WDL.TXT file. Note the name of the file listed next to the
  37.    device. You need to download this file from your downloading
  38.    service.
  39.  
  40. 2. If you are downloading to a floppy disk, you need to have a
  41.    formatted, blank disk. If you are downloading to your hard
  42.    disk, create a new subdirectory in which you will place the
  43.    files.
  44.  
  45.    CAUTION: Do not download files directly into your WINDOWS
  46.    directory. Doing so could overwrite files essential to the
  47.    proper operation of your system.
  48.  
  49. 3. Follow the downloading procedure used by your downloading
  50.    service. The file you download is the executable or program
  51.    (.EXE) file that you identified in step 1. This file contains
  52.    all the files you need to support your device.
  53.  
  54.    Download the .EXE file to your floppy disk or to the new
  55.    subdirectory you created on your hard disk.
  56.  
  57. 4. Change to the floppy disk drive (or the subdirectory on your
  58.    hard disk) that contains the .EXE file. At the MS-DOS prompt,
  59.    type the filename, and then press ENTER.
  60.  
  61.    When the .EXE file finishes running, all the files you need to
  62.    support your device, such as a .DRV file and an OEMSETUP.INF
  63.    file, are set up. You are also provided with a .TXT file that
  64.    contains instructions for installing the device drivers (or
  65.    other software) and a licensing agreement.
  66.  
  67.    If you have problems extracting files, try downloading the
  68.    files again.

  74. An asterisk (*) next to the item indicates that a version of this
  75. driver is available on the 4/06/92 disk release of the Windows 
  76. Driver Library.  If the 'File Last Updated' date is 4/6/92, the 
  77. driver has NOT been updated since the disk release.  A date 
  78. later than 4/6/92, indicates that the driver being distributed 
  79. on the electronic WDL is more current than the version of the 
  80. driver that is on the 4/6/92 disk release.

  348. 5/14/92 - THE DRIVERS HAVE NOT BEEN CHANGED. The Help files,
  349.           UNIDRV.HLP and FINSTALL.HLP, were replaced. They are now
  350.           exactly the same as the Help files that are shipped with
  351.           Windows 3.1.

  353. 4/30/92 - The drivers for the Brother HL-4 and HL-8E did not change.
  354.  
  355.           The BROHL.EXE file changed to include drivers for several
  356.           additional Brother printers: the HJ-100, HJ-770, HL-8, and
  357.           HL-8D.
  358.  
  359. 4/22/92 - This change included a new PCL4X.DRV file that was needed to
  360.           correct the Star LaserPrinter Identification problems in
  361.           Control Panel Printer Setup. (The Star printers were being
  362.           identified as a Brother HL-4 when the Setup button was
  363.           chosen.) The only change to these Brother printers is that
  364.           the paper size on the Brother HL printers will now default
  365.           to 8.5-by-11-inch paper instead of A4.

  416. 4/06/92 - The driver for the Espon EPL-7000 does not address any
  417.           particular problems in the driver shipped with Windows 3.1
  418.           that supports this printer. The WDL version of this driver
  419.           is considered to be more robust. It is recommended that
